I can report that it's very hard to spring-clean with a small baby in tow. I settled for a bit of dusting-down, and for taking delivery of the lovely new wood heater. I don't know if the fireplaces should ever be used; there's just too much timber in the place, and the chimneys are from the century before last...

anyway, at last I got to spend my first night up there, in that blanketing quiet of the country. also the blanketing noise of the dawn magpie chorus and the blanketing heat of a late autumn 30-degree day.

next trip: take friends. plant lots of treees.
