it's raining at Yapeen. go you 100 little planties!!
a daily rain bulletin from the bom - need to search on Castlemaine to find it quickly. of course today, like many others, is an "X".

it's surprsing how few trees 100 are. and the river red gums didn't materialise...I'm working on that.
it's also surprising how fast 100 trees can be got into the ground, staked and (next day) watered when you have 6-8 pairs of hands working on it. one person just about physically restrained me from starting work Saturday when I told him we couldn't water until Sunday (water restrictions), but we got there. the orchard - 18 fruit trees - is going in in June, and I'm hoping the tenant will take good care of it. the soil is good and there's some moisture about, but the drought is still rolling on - the area moves to Stage Four water restrictions today, hand watering with buckets only. some land across the road is for sale. this is the view, including the pub:
