things are busy at the pub these days, with lots of visitors, some even with local historical knowledge; apparently the original visitors' book is at the Castlemaine museum. I plan to hunt it down soon.

to cope with all the visitors I've found a local person to drop off keys and tidy up afterwards; this meant a small increase in the rent, but it's still dirt cheap. so far most of the people staying there have come via an ad in the Writers' Centre magazine; mostly nice, communicative, well-behaved types who appreciate a bit of character over glitz.
