after digging up the council heritage report, I find I already knew it was the Miner's Arms. the building, the front at least, is roughly 150 years old according to those dates. must copy the heritage report and put it up at the pub for people to look at. last use as a hotel: 1897.

the historical society tells me that Curry's hotel was called the Miner's Arms. they have some info relating to same; I hope to get up there in coming months to look at it.
just as interesting, though, will be the 20th century history, for which I have to physically chase down (well, go and see) a few people whose families had connections to the place over the years.
